- Step 4: Arrive at the Dashboard.
- Common mistakes made logging in.
Logging in to edit and administer your site
-
Step 1: Open your preferred browser (Internet Explorer 7 or above, Firefox, Safari, Chrome etc.).
For enhanced performance and aesthetics, we recommend using Firefox or Google Chrome on Windows platforms in lieu of Internet Explorer.
Step 2: Type in the URL for your site.
- Before your site is launched (made public), using the browser of your choice (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.), type yoursite.conductor.nd.edu/admin, with yoursite standing for the name given your site.
- After launch, you will leave out .conductor. (For example, the site for Notre Dame Report was ndreport.conductor.nd.edu prior to launch, and after launch, was ndreport.nd.edu.
-
Step 3: If necessary, accept the certificate* and log in.
- Accept the certificate if necessary. The first time you open your unlaunched site in Conductor, you will receive a warning that the site registration (certificate) is suspect. Accept and permanently save the exception. (This will happen only while in development; once the site has launched, you will no longer encounter this certificate error.)
- To enter Conductor and edit your site, enter your NetID (e.g. jsmith1) and password. Click "Go." You will then be taken to the dashboard.
*Depending on the browser you are using, the security certificate will look like one of the following:
*Firefox's Certificate:
1. Click "I understand the risks"
2. Click "Add Exception"
*Chrome's Certificate:
Click "Proceed Anyway"
*Safari's Certificate:
Click "Continue"
*Internet Explorer's Certificate:
Click "Continue to this website (not recommended)"
Step 4: Arrive at the Dashboard.
- The Dashboard includes
- Notes or communication the developers might want to pass along (product enhancements, etc.) in the "Conductor News" and "Conductor Issues" sections.
- The most "recently updated pages" (just to the right of the menu)—you can click on one of those pages and then click on Edit to bypass clicking through the Pages button in the sidebar.
- After launch, the Google Analytics for your site.

Common mistakes related to accessing and viewing a site
-
Going to your site's pre-launch URL to log in after your site has launched.
Once your site "goes live," its URL changes from yoursite.conductor.nd.edu to yoursite.nd.edu. This means that when you go to log in, instead of going to yoursite.conductor.nd.edu/admin, you should now go to yoursite.nd.edu/admin.
-
Entering the login URL as yoursite.conductor.nd.edu/admin/login or yoursite.nd.edu/admin/login
You may have difficulties logging in if you try to log in at this URL. Please just use yoursite.conductor.nd.edu/admin or yoursite.nd.edu/admin.

Trying to log in when you haven't been added as a user to the site.
While you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who'd say this is a mistake so much as an oversight, it's a problem you might be experiencing. Make sure the person in charge of your Conductor site knows that you are trying to access it, so he or she can add you as a user with the correct role(s). If you are unsure of whom to contact about being added as an administrator of your site, don't hesitate to contact web support via email or phone: 574-631-4243, unless you are a part of the College of Arts and Letters, in which case you should contact Mike Weiler, mweiler@nd.edu.
